People are on the move all the time. The spread and mix of people of different cultures and ethnic origins has added to the diversity of every country in the world. The link below shows an interactive world map that highlights just some of the major migration movements during the 20th Century. Think about the people involved – the different reasons for their migration, the number of people going, the lives they’re leaving behind and their hopes for the future.

- What positive (pull) factors attracted them to the new country?
- Were there any barriers or obstacles that made migrating difficult?
- Were there any obvious impacts of the migration on the migrant/ home country/ host country?
